I began my artistic path as a sculptor, working in cast metals, welding, ceramic sculpture, and mixed media.  I received my BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a concentration in Sculpture and ceramics. I received my Masters Degree in Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design with the intention of starting an Art and Wooden boat building education program for at-risk youth, veterans groups, and others. See more about our journey to create this school at www.OhanaRootsMAine.com.

I have always been deeply drawn to trees and the dendritic nature of trees People would ask me why I painted dead trees. Trees are not dead when they go dormant, they are pure potential. To me these forms are dendrites found in every cell of our bodies, they are mycelium connecting the vast network of the forest, they are the bronchioles of the lungs and the coral in the ocean. To me they are a simple form that reminds us that we are interconnected to all things and each other.
